Top of the morning to you! Your Bethlehem day trip is cool and Celtic this weekend, enjoy!

10am

Park in the Walnut Street Garage. Why is this important? Instead of $10 event parking, the Parking Authority is only charging $6 to park in the garage all day and you’re going to be at the Celtic Classic later! But if you’re one of the lucky ones who finds a great street spot, download the ParkNow app so you can check and refill the meter from your phone!

10:05am

Begin your day with a traditional Celtic breakfast at McCarthy’s Tea Room. Not only do they have spectacular tea, they also have made-from-scratch, home recipes that will make you think you’ve been transported right to the British Isles. Kilts optional.

11:30am

Mosey on down to the main event, Celtic Classic! You’ll arrive right in the middle of the Highland Dance Competition. Be dazzled by the dancers and cheer on your favorites as they compete into the early afternoon in the Grand Pavilion.

1:00pm

When you’ve had your fill of the dance, grab a beer and some lunch. There will be all varieties of food available in the Grand Courtyard, but if you’re feeling particularly Irish this afternoon, try Dublin Provisions Co. They’ll be serving Shephards pie, Irish stew, corned beef and cabbage, as well as other Irish favorites.

2:30pm

You’re just in time to catch the opening ceremonies and parade at Highland Field before the Sheaf Toss, the Caber Toss and the Wayside Farm Border Collies. Be sure to walk around the rest of the festival to find Celtic collectibles and other delectable snacks through your afternoon. But watching other people throw and chase things can really work up an appetite, so start to think about finding dinner.

6:00pm

Enjoy dinner at the Wooden Match. The Wooden Match is a place where craft beer flows freely, the food is delicious and plentiful, the atmosphere is inviting, the people are friendly, the prices are fair, and you can enjoy a cigar wherever and whenever you please. Call The Wooden Match a gastropub, call it a cigar bar, call it a utopia. The Wooden Match wears many hats. But, despite its many parts, the whole serves as a place for you to unwind, socialize, and eat and drink your fill.

8:30pm

To cap off an Irish day, head to Molly’s Irish Grille and Sports Bar. They have 14 beers on tap and one of the biggest bottled beer selections that you’ll find in South Side Bethlehem. If you’re a late night muncher, their wings and cheesesteaks are just $5 and if you hang around until 11pm, you can dance to tunes spun by their weekly DJ.

Head home after another great trip to Bethlehem, and may the road rise to meet you.
